Rooted in the Land, True to Our Mission: Advancing Organic Agriculture by Supporting Farmers|An Interview with Professor Ge Wenguang of Hebei Agricultural University
October 23, 2026

In the golden month of October, the Head of the New Media Department of the Shiying Certification Organization interviewed Professor and doctoral supervisor Ge Wenguang of Hebei Agricultural University.A senior expert who has long worked on the front lines of agricultural research and actively promoted research and practice in organic agriculture, Professor Ge Wenguang shared his observations, reflections, and convictions in an in-depth conversation about the current state of organic agriculture, young people supporting agriculture, and rural revitalization.

As public awareness of health continues to grow, green, safe, and naturally produced organic foods are increasingly favored, making organic agriculture an important choice for the high-quality development of modern agriculture. However, the sector still faces many challenges, including limited public awareness, low standardization of cultivation techniques, and constraints on production and sales for small and medium-sized farmers; the wider adoption and upgrading of organic agriculture remain a long and demanding task.

“A healthy body depends on healthy food.”This is the core principle that Teacher Ge Wenguang repeatedly emphasized in the interview. In her view, a healthy diet is the first line of defense for physical and mental well-being, and pure, natural, additive-free organic ingredients are the foundation of a better life for everyone.

To support the long-term development of organic agriculture, Teacher Ge Wenguang not only continues her research and outreach efforts but also places particular importance on empowering young people. She calls on and leads students from Hebei Agricultural University to leave the classroom and step into the fields, grounding their academic work in rural realities. She says that young people today should not confine themselves to textbook theory; they should also immerse themselves in rural communities, engage closely with agriculture, and understand farmers’ real challenges and needs, drawing on their professional knowledge and using advanced science and technology to support field cultivation. This is both the right path for the sound development of organic agriculture and a responsibility young people must embrace in contributing to rural revitalization 。

Lead by example and work hard, pooling our efforts to support farmers.Teacher Ge Wenguang took the initiative and the lead in establishing the Jiren Mutual-Aid Cooperative, bringing together efforts to advance agricultural development.Through this platform, ecological farms have broken down information barriers, regularly exchanging advanced organic farming techniques and sharing field management experience. They also recommend one another and share high-quality sales channels, helping pristine, high-quality organic products reach markets and enabling farmers to increase their incomes through collective strength. To date, the cooperative has brought together more than 200 farms and cooperatives that have joined voluntarily, building a mutually supportive, win-win agricultural development community. This practice not only reflects Ms. Ge Wenguang’s professional expertise in organic agriculture, but also demonstrates her strong ability to rally support and exert influence in fostering industry collaboration, promoting technology, and increasing farmers’ income.
An in-depth interview, a shared resonance with the original aspiration.Teacher Ge Wenguang’s steadfast commitment to the land and hands-on dedication to supporting farmers reveal the sense of responsibility and humanity of those working in organic agriculture, as well as the guiding role that seasoned experts play in the industry.

The future of organic agriculture depends on the sustained dedication of pioneering experts and the continued efforts of the younger generation. We hope to see more young people head into the fields, learn about agriculture, and develop a love for rural life; bring what they have learned to the farm; channel their youthful passion into organic agriculture; and apply innovative thinking to promoting technology, building brands, and connecting production with markets. Organic agriculture is not a “fallback” but a promising new path; the countryside offers vast opportunities, and young people have much to contribute.

Going forward, Shiying Certification will continue to focus on and uncover positive stories in the industry, promote the concept of organic health, and advance the organic industry with care, helping the public gain a deeper understanding of organic agriculture and recognize healthy food sources.
